Description

The gatepier, located at the north entrance to the drive east of Sarsden House, dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and has a square section with a moulded plinth and capping. The north side features a projecting scrolled pilaster. The finial is mutilated and has a cavetto moulding, suggesting it may have originally supported a swagged urn. The gatepier stands at a site that was abandoned before 1788.
