Description

This is a late 17th-century cottage with later additions and alterations. It is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble with a straw thatched roof. The cottage is one storey high with an attic, featuring four eyebrow eaves dormers with two-light leaded casements. Similar windows are located directly below the dormers. A 20th-century gabled stone porch with a bowed half-glazed outer door and boarded inner door is situated to the left of the right-hand window. A central ridge stack incorporates a semi-circular bread oven projection with a clay tile roof to the rear. Single-storey ranges extend to the left and right, also thatched, featuring inner leaded casements and outer fixed-light windows; the right range also includes an integral end stack. The interior was not accessible at the time of resurvey in August 1987, but is likely to be of interest. The cottage shares a very similar plan and appearance to the nearby Sarsden Cottage.
