Description
Hill View Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with timber lintels and features a concrete plain-tile roof along with brick gable stacks. The house has a three-unit central-staircase plan and stands two storeys high. The front has three windows, with a central plank door flanked by three-light casements. There are three gables with 20th-century half-dormers above. The eaves are lower at the rear. To the left, there is a two-bay shed made of rubble and weatherboarding from the 18th or 19th century, topped with an old plain tile roof.
Inside, a winder stair rises from the cellar to the loft, and there is a large blocked fireplace to the right. The interior features chamfered and stopped beams, and the bedrooms include timber-framing that may be older than the house itself. Both floors have plank doors with wooden latches.
