Description
Crofters Close is a house dating from the late 17th century and early 18th century, with remodelling occurring around 1800. It is constructed of limestone rubble with timber lintels, some brick dressings, and a shallow-pitched Welsh slate roof topped with brick stacks. The building follows a five-unit plan. It is two storeys high and has an irregular front elevation. The central three bays have a higher roofline and a central 6-panelled door flanked by inserted sash windows with glazing bars; there are matching sashes above. Most windows are 9-pane sashes. A range to the left features a small window on each floor, along with a lateral stack. Inside, the main range and the extreme left section show chamfered and stopped spine beams with run-out stops, along with a timber-framed cross-partition. It is thought the house may have originally comprised one and three dwellings, which were linked when the roofs were raised.
