Description

Goddard Butchers is a house that has been converted into a shop and flat. It dates from the 17th century and was remodelled in the mid to late 18th century. The front is roughcast with raised quoin strips, and the rear left features square timber framing with brick infill. The roof is gabled and covered with old tiles, and there is a brick stack on the left end. The original layout is not clearly defined. The building has two storeys and a three-window range. The 20th-century door and shop windows are present, while late 19th-century two-light casements are on either side of a central blocked window. The eaves are dentilled. To the right, there is a one-storey, one-bay range that is also roughcast with a gabled old tile roof. Inside, there are chamfered beams with ogee-stops on the right. The first floor has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
