Description
Rumpelstiltskin is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the 16th or 17th century and was remodeled and refronted in the mid to late 19th century. The building is probably timber framed and features a rendered, colorwashed front with a gabled old tile roof and a brick stack at the right end. It has an L-shaped plan with a rear left wing and stands two stories tall with a three-window range. There is a mid to late 19th century cornice above a 20th century door and flanking shop windows, with a sash window to the right and plank doors leading to a carriageway in the left gabled bay. The first floor has horned three-pane sash windows. The rear wing, which is from the 17th century, is two stories tall and consists of a one-bay range of square timber framing with colorwashed brick infill and a gabled old tile roof. This wing adjoins a late 18th century two-story wing to the right, which is made of colorwashed chalk with brick dressings and also has a gabled old tile roof. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
