Description

King's Chocolate Bar Post Office is a town house located on Watlington High Street. It features a late 18th-century front that was added to an earlier 18th-century building, with a 17th-century cottage attached to the rear. The structure is built of grey brick in header bond, with red brick quoins and dressings, and has a gabled 20th-century tile roof with brick end stacks. The building is arranged in a U-shape with two rear wings and stands three storeys tall, presenting a three-window range. The front includes 20th-century doors and flanking shop windows, along with a plank door leading to a central passage. There are gauged brick flat arches over horned six- and four-pane sash windows, and dentilled eaves above horned second-floor sashes, except for a late 18th-century six-pane sash window on the left.

The late 18th-century two-storey rear left wing is constructed of Flemish bond brick, featuring a gabled old tile roof and a brick ridge stack, with a plank door and a two-light iron casement window. The 17th-century wing at the rear right is two storeys high and consists of a two-bay range made of square timber framing clad in brick at the front and right, with a timber-framed left outshut and a gabled old tile roof. This section includes a 20th-century door, a two-light iron casement, and one leaded light window to the left. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
