Description

15 King Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It features a late 18th century front with a 17th century core. The building is constructed of brick and has a plain tiled gable roof, which has a steeper pitch on the right side. There is a brick lateral stack on the left. The house is three storeys high, with an attic and cellar, and has a two-window range. The first and second floors have late 19th century plain sashes set under segmental arches, while the gable features a semicircular light with old glass in a moulded case. The entrance has a 20th century panelled door with an overlight, situated beneath a moulded wood flat hood supported by moulded pilasters. The left side of the building likely shows evidence of timber-framing.

Inside, there is a late 18th century winder staircase leading to the second floor. The attic reveals steep pitched trusses with V struts and chamfered purlins. On the second floor, there is an exposed moulded ceiling frame and stop-chamfered posts. The first floor features a moulded ceiling frame, part-glazed panelled doors, and a late 19th century firegrate. The ground floor has chamfered and moulded ceiling beams and posts, a stone fireplace with moulded jambs, and timber lintels. The cellar is stone-lined.
