Description

46 Bridge Street is a house that has been converted into offices, dating from the 18th century. It features painted brickwork and a 20th-century slate roof. The building is three storeys tall, with an attic and cellar, and has a two-window range. The windows are 6/6 sashes set under gauged brick segmental arches with keystones, and there is a sill band. The right side has chamfered quoins, and a moulded and coved eaves cornice runs along the top. A 20th-century shop front is present, with an angled corner in ashlar supported by a coved and cusped corbel.

On the right side, which faces St Nicholas Street, there is a brick end stack and a stone plinth. This side also has a three-window range with 20th-century casements under segmental arches, a storey band, and a moulded and coved eaves cornice. The central entrance has a 20th-century door and hood, flanked by a 6/6 sash window on the right and a 9-light window with a central casement on the left, with a storey band above.

Inside, there is a late 18th-century dogleg staircase with turned balusters and a moulded rail leading to the attic. The attic features two 19th-century plank doors. The second floor has a 19th-century wall cupboard, while the first floor includes architraves around the sashes and casement, a window seat, and a skirting board. The cellar is lined with dressed stone.
