Description
No. 3 St Nicholas Street is a house that has been converted into offices, dating from the early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick with a slate roof and features a brick end stack. It stands three storeys tall and has a two-window range, with 19th-century six-over-six sash windows that have stone sills and are set under gauged brick segmental arches, similar to those on the second floor. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front and a stone plinth.
Inside, there is likely a 20th-century dogleg staircase with stick balusters and acorn finials, leading to a winder stair that accesses the attic. The attic contains 19th-century roof timbers. On the second floor, there are plank-clad panelled doors, a four-panel door, and an early 20th-century tiled fireplace. The first floor features a late 19th-century fireplace, a half-glazed two-panel door, and plank-lined doors. The cellar is brick-lined with a plank door, chamfered ceiling beams, a flagstone floor, and stone lining at the rear.
