Description
Wyvale House is a building that now serves as offices but was originally a house. It features an 18th-century refronting of a 17th-century timber-framed structure. The exterior is made of painted brick and has a Welsh slate roof with a central gable and a brick end stack on the left side. The building stands three storeys tall with an attic and has a four-window range. The windows are 6/6 sashes set under brick segmental arches with moulded keystones, and there is a storey band. The central pediment includes a round-headed keyed arch with a two-light casement, and there is a wooden modillion cornice at the eaves. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front with a central doorway beneath a brick storey band.
Inside, there is a 19th-century winder staircase leading to the attic. The attic features a 17th-century truss in the north gable, along with further exposed timbers and reset 17th-century panelling. On the first floor, there is a 17th-century decorated plaster ceiling with pierced roses in oval mouldings and birds in relief, a 18th-century corner cupboard, coving, and two mirrors.
