Description
41A Bridge Street is a former outbuilding, now used as an architect's office, likely originally a cross-wing. It dates from the late 14th century, with alterations from the 15th to the 19th centuries, and was restored around 1990. The building features a timber-frame structure with render and 18th-century brick infill, topped with a roof of plain tiles and Welsh slate.
The south front has two storeys and a two-window range, with 20th-century two-light casements and a 20th-century light with louvre. It displays cusped braces and massive rafters that are visible. There is a blocked doorway with a 20th-century two-light casement under a cusped lintel adorned with quatrefoil motifs, and a rubble plinth.
On the right side, the box-framing has small panels and jowelled posts, along with a 20th-century three-light casement and steps leading to an undercroft featuring moulded stonework. The east front has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, with a single-window range that includes a 20th-century casement.
