Description

This gatepier, located approximately 165 meters west of Piccadilly Cottage, is part of the entrance screen to Ascott Park and is likely from the 17th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and has a square plan with pilaster strips on all sides. The pilasters on the front and rear are rusticated, and the gatepier features a moulded base and cornice that break around the projections. The moulded stem remains from the finial. This gatepier is one of two main piers from a set of six at the entrance to Ascott Park, which is listed in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission County Register of Gardens at Grade II.
