Description
This structure is a gatepier located 145 meters southeast of Broadwell Manor, dating from the 17th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and forms one of a pair of gatepiers. The gatepier is a large square structure featuring rustication bands, a pulvinated frieze, a moulded cornice, and a slightly ogee top, although it is missing its finial. The side facing the gateway includes a pilaster with a scroll top. On the west side, there is a wider projection that contains a seat in a semi-circular niche, which has a twin-arched head and an impost band. This gatepier, along with its counterpart located 150 meters to the southeast, flanks the entrance to the former manor house that was destroyed by fire in 1670.
