Description
This gatepier, located 150 meters southeast of Broadwell Manor, dates back to the 17th century and is one of a pair. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a large square design with rustication bands, a pulvinated frieze, a moulded cornice, and a slightly ogee top, although the finial is missing. The side facing the gateway includes a pilaster with a scroll top. On the west side, there is a wider projection that contains a seat within a semi-circular niche, which has a twin-arched head and an impost band. This gatepier, along with its counterpart located 145 meters to the southeast, marks the entrance to the former manor house that was destroyed by fire in 1670.
