Description

Gatehampton Manor is a house dating from the 17th century, with an 18th-century front and 19th-century extensions. It is constructed of red brick and has a plain tile roof with brick stacks. The building has a lobby-entry plan and features a garden front that was formerly the entrance front. It is two storeys high with an attic and has a four-window range. The central entrance is a 19th-century six-panel part-glazed door leading to a square-plan porch with a gabled tiled roof. To the left of the porch is a 19th-century French door, and there are three unhorned sash windows on the ground floor. The first floor has four unhorned 12-pane sashes. The roof has two cross gables that are tile-hung and feature 2-light casements.

At the rear, the building has a timber frame with brick infill and projecting cross gables to the left. The centre has two bays with two late 17th-century leaded cross-windows on both the ground and first floors. Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with a timber frame and rendered infill on one side of the well. The first floor rear includes a late 17th-century panelled room with bolection moulding panelling and doors that have H-hinges. There are also subsidiary two-storey wings from the 19th century to the left and right of the main front.
