Description
This house, located to the right of Stone Cottage on Thorpe Road in Upper Wardington, dates from the 17th century and has undergone alterations in the 18th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and features a raised, steeply pitched roof covered with 20th-century tiles. The gables are stone-coped and have moulded kneelers, with stone stacks at the ends. The building is arranged in an L-plan and has two storeys plus a cellar, with a three-window range.
Access to the entrance is via stone steps, which lead to a 20th-century door. The entrance is flanked by 20th-century three-light windows that have chamfered wood lintels. On the first floor, there are two- and three-light 20th-century windows, also with chamfered wood lintels. The cellar features a two-light stone mullioned window with a hood mould and label stops. Notably, there is a sundial on the right gable. Inside, the house includes a four-centred stone fireplace and a stop-chamfered beam.
