Description

Lincoln House is a house dating from the early 17th century, with a later 17th to 18th century rear wing that has been altered in the 20th century. It is built of coursed ironstone rubble and features a 20th century concrete tile roof that replaced the original thatch. The building has brick chimneys at the gables and between the left bays. It has a cross passage plan, although the original doorways have been blocked in the 20th century. The left bay was likely an outbuilding that was converted into a dwelling in the 18th century, and the rear wing was also once an outbuilding.

The house is one storey and attic high, with three bays. The right bays contain 4-light ironstone windows with ovolo-moulded mullions and Tudor hoodmoulds on the ground floor. The left bay has a slightly lower roofline, featuring a 2-light leaded casement and a small fireplace window to the left. A 2-light limestone window with ovolo-moulded mullions and a cornice was inserted in the 1970s into the doorway to the right of the left bay. There are three 20th century flat-roofed dormers with paired barred wooden casements. The right gable has a 2-light ironstone window with chamfered mullions and a 20th century entry.

The rear wing includes one similar window, other 20th century fenestration, and a coped gable. Inside, there are stop-chamfered spine beams in the centre bay and passage, along with a chamfered spine beam in the right bay. The centre bay features a large altered fireplace that has its back to the passage.
