Description

Senendone House is a house with origins in the 17th century, featuring alterations and extensions from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It is constructed from squared, coursed ironstone, with coursed ironstone rubble on the right end, and has a slate roof. The building has two cement end stacks with chamfered bases and a stone ridge stack also with a chamfered base. Originally possibly a two-unit 17th-century house, it has been extended to three units and now includes a 19th-century rear wing, forming an L shape. The house stands three storeys tall and has a three-window range.

The entrance is through a passage on the right, featuring a seven-panelled door with two glazed panels. To the right of the entrance is a three-light renewed wood casement, while to the left are a 20th-century single-light wood casement and two three-light wood casements. The first floor has three similar three-light windows, and the attic contains three early 19th-century metal casements with lead cames, wrought-iron casement fasteners, and springs. Wood lintels are present throughout the building.

At the rear, the entrance is contained within a 20th-century porch on the left. The ground floor features a French window and a two-light casement on the right, both in wood frames, along with wood lintels. The 19th-century wing is located on the left side. Inside, the house has an 18th-century dog-leg staircase with a winder, stop-chamfered, chamfered, and boxed beams, an 18th-century fireplace, and plank and panelled doors. An inventory from 1698 in the Gloucestershire Record Office indicates that John Ward occupied this house at that time.
