Description

Horsefair Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with a portion likely being earlier. It is constructed of marlstone ashlar with a Welsh-slate roof and brick stacks. The building comprises three units arranged over two storeys. The right-hand two bays of the three-window front have a regular arrangement featuring a blocked central doorway and two-light casement windows in the outer bays. A small canted bay window is located to the right of the doorway. All ground-floor openings have flat arches with tall projecting keyblocks, linked to a storeyband. A small 20th-century window has been inserted above the blocked doorway. The left-hand bay projects and contains the entrance, which is sheltered by a small stone canopy, along with a two-light casement window on each floor. The moulded plinth is related to that on the nearby Old Corner House, which is probably 17th century. The steep-pitched roof has stacks flanking each section. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for group value.
