Description
Beacon House is a house dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared marlstone with some ashlar dressings and features a Welsh-slate roof with brick gable stacks. The house has a two-unit plan and consists of two storeys plus an attic and a semi-basement.
The front of the house has three windows and a doorway located to the left of centre. The doorway is sheltered by a stone-slated canopy supported by carved posts. Flanking the doorway are four-pane sash windows, with similar regularly-spaced windows on the first floor, all featuring ashlar flat arches. The right ground-floor window is raised above a two-light basement window, while the left gable has a leaded two-light casement. The roof is shallow-pitched.
The interior has not been inspected. Beacon House is notable for its position at the end of an interesting row of 17th and 18th century stone houses and is included for its group value.
