SP4635 ADDERBURY HORN HILL R0AD (East side) Adderbury West 6/70 Hamelin Cottage and attached wall

GV II House. Probably early/mid C18 with earlier origins. Marlstone rubble and brick in Flemish bond with wooden lintels; thatch roof with brick end stacks. 3-unit plan with service bay. 2 storeys plus attics. 4-window brick front of main section, facing garden, has 3-light C18 leaded casements at first floor, and at ground floor has a similar window to right, a central 6-panel door with a C20 canopy, and a large C20 bay window to left. Steep-pitched roof has 2 small 2-light inset dormers. 2-storey service bay to right has later brick lean-to extensions obscuring most of its front. Left end wall and rear wall are in rubble, with further leaded casements to rear. Interior: roof trusses have heavy principals, crossed at the apex, supporting through purlins and a ridge piece. Rubble wall to left of road frontage is approximately 3 metres high, extends for approximately 10 metres and has a thatched coping. An early use of brick in a vernacular style,
