Description

Hamp Cottage is a house dating from the mid-18th century, constructed of English-bond brick with a steep-pitched roof that is half-hipped to the left and features a brick stack at the right gable end. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall, with a symmetrical three-window arrangement. All openings have cambered arches, and there are 6/6-pane sash windows on either side of a tall recess above the 18th-century six-panel door. This door has flush panels that are beaded at the edges and is set within a late 19th-century gabled brick porch. On the ground floor, there is an early 19th-century 8/8-pane sash window to the right.

The left side of the cottage features a pitching eye at the top and a wide segmental arch on the first floor, with the left half blocked and an early 19th-century margin-paned sash window inserted to the right. The right return has a curved corner with segmental arches for the attic openings, which include a planked door. The first floor is blocked and has a 20th-century single-storey lean-to below it.

In addition to the cottage, there is approximately 30 meters of English-bond brick wall to the right that curves back at the corner and encloses the garden. Attached to the rear of the cottage is a two-storey outhouse with cambered openings on both floors. The interior has not been inspected.
