Description
The brick parapet in Blake Gardens along the riverbank in Bridgwater dates from around 1898. It is constructed in English bond brick with stone coping, cornices, and panels. The wall stands approximately 1.5 meters high and spans about 15 meters between two substantial cuboidal piers, which are slightly taller than the wall. These piers feature stone blocks at the top, adorned with dentilled cornices and stone sunk panels that are edged with egg-and-dart moulding. The center of the wall has a wide sloping buttress that supports a plaque. Blake Gardens were acquired by the Corporation from R C Else in 1898.
