Description
Nos. 2 and 2A on St Mary Street in Bridgwater is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the early 19th century and is built of painted Flemish bond brick, featuring painted stone coping, a cornice, and cills. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys tall with a three-window range. The first-floor windows are 8/8-pane sashes set under gauged flat arches. The late 19th-century shopfronts below each window, which likely served as three separate shops originally, have moulded consoles supporting each fascia, with paired consoles on the inside right. No. 2, on the right, features two plate-glass windows with a recessed door to the left, while No. 2A, on the left, has a central recessed door. The right return of the building has a blind window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected. The building is included for its group value.
