Description
Nos. 10 and 12 on Market Street are two houses that have been converted to include shop fronts. They were built in the early 19th century and are constructed of Flemish bond brick with a slate roof. Each house features a shop front on the ground floor, with a door located to the right, and both buildings have three storeys. The long plots contain worker's cottages in the rear yard, which were added later. The shop fronts date from the 19th century, with the one at No. 12 featuring a cornice and enriched consoles. The first and second floors have four window openings that include flat brick arches, stone sills, and various sash windows with 9, 12, and 16 panes. The rear windows have horizontally sliding sashes. These houses are included for their group value.
