Description

The Rose and Crown Public House is a building from the 18th century, with significant alterations mostly from the early 19th century. It is constructed of English-bond brick that is rendered and painted on the front, featuring a curved corner on the ground floor. The roof is covered with crested pantiles, and there is a tall brick lateral stack on the left side, along with another brick stack near the front gable end that has an ornamental brick cornice. The building has an L-shape with the gable facing the rear wing, and it stands three storeys high with a two-window range. The left gable has a late 19th-century wavy-edged bargeboard topped with a wooden finial and pendant.

On the first floor, there is a tripartite plate-glass sash window to the left and an early 19th-century 6/6-pane sash window to the right. The ground floor features a mid-20th-century window to the left, a central doorway with a 20th-century door, and an early 19th-century tripartite sash window with a central 6/6-pane sash to the right. The left return of the building has a 19th-century three-light casement window at the eaves level, with 20th-century windows at the rear end and two lower floors that have concrete lintels. Inside, the attic contains a stack from a former open fire against the rear wall.
