Description
No. 14 St Mary Street is a house that has been converted into two shops. It dates from the mid to late 18th century and features roughcast on brick with a mansard pantile roof and brick stacks at the gable ends. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with an attic, displaying a symmetrical three-window arrangement. There is a 20th-century central dormer, and the upper floors have flat arches over sash windows, with 6/6 panes on the second floor and 6/4 panes (formerly 6/9) on the first floor. The late 19th-century shop fronts are flanked by panelled pilasters with panelled consoles. The set-back shop doors are glazed and have three vertical raised-and-fielded panels at the base. The central door, which provides access to the upper floor, is similar but features a horizontal shouldered panel at the top and three long panels in the centre, topped by an overlight with two vertical glazing bars. The building has a low parapet. The interior has not been inspected.
