Description
West Bank is a small house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century. It is constructed of marlstone rubble and features wooden lintels, topped with a thatched roof and brick stacks. The house has a two-unit plan with a service wing and stands two storeys high plus an attic.
The front of the house has two windows, with three 18th-century casements on the first floor. The ground floor is partly obscured by a 20th-century glazed porch but still shows a canted 18th-century bay window. A single-storey service wing projects from the left side of the front and includes an 18th-century casement. The roof has gable stacks and a small central ridge stack, which displays a "County" fire insurance plaque. The roof also features two 2-light 17th-century casements and a gable parapet.
At the rear, there are additional casements, including a 3-light 17th-century window and a blocked stair window. Inside, the house boasts a large inglenook fireplace, chamfered spine beams and joists on both floors, a stop-chamfered 17th-century doorframe, an old plank attic door with a wooden latch, and a winder stair leading to the attic.
