Description
This is a small barn, dovecote, and stable located approximately 50 metres northwest of Preedy's Farmhouse, dating from around 1700 with later alterations. The barn is constructed of squared coursed ironstone and features a corrugated-iron roof. It has a door on the right side, two square ventilation holes, and two ventilation slits with diamond detail at the top. The roof structure from the 19th century includes a metal king tie and wooden struts, and there is a feeding rack along the rear wall. The barn has been used as a cowhouse and stable.
The dovecote, which is also made of squared coursed ironstone, has interior walls of coursed rubble and a continuous corrugated-iron roof that covers both the dovecote and stable, with some original thatch still visible. The dovecote features a plank door with a continuous wooden lintel above it and a window to the left, which has a wooden lintel as well. Inside, there are nesting boxes on all walls, and evidence of a former floor can be seen from cut floor timbers. Feeding racks are present on the rear wall, and two rows of purlins support the thatch.
The stable has a doorway that is off-centre to the right, framed in repaired oak with a continuous wooden lintel over flanking windows. The windows have solid oak frames and wooden bars, with two boarded windows on the first floor. The interior features a two-bay butt-purlin roof, and the floor beams are stop-chamfered. There is a small niche in the west wall, and the floor is made of brick and clay.
