Description

Ivy Cottage is likely a pair of cottages, now combined into a single dwelling, probably dating from the late 17th or 18th century. The exterior is built of regular coursed ironstone rubble, with a thatched roof and three brick stacks positioned at the ends of the building, and one on the ridge. The cottage is a single storey with an attic. It has a three-window front with two doorways. A 20th-century door is located on the left side, with a continuous wooden lintel, and three-light wooden casements to the right. A three-light wooden casement also sits to the left of the door, with a wooden lintel. The plank door on the right side has a plain wooden surround and a wooden lintel. There are three eyebrow dormers in the attic, each with two-light casements and wooden lintels. Inside, some original features remain, including stop-chamfered spine beams and beams with run-out stops, although these are partially concealed within 19th-century casings in the left part of the building.
