Description
The Manor House is a grade II listed building located on Main Street in Tadmarton. It primarily dates from the 18th century but incorporates earlier structures. The house is built of coursed random rubble with a stone slate roof and features two stone ridge stacks. It has an H-plan layout.
The main front of the house has a four-window range, with a central two-unit bay flanked by gabled wings. The central bay is a single storey plus an attic, with a panelled door to the right that has an overlight. There is one window to the left of the door and two gabled half-dormers in the attic. The wings are two storeys plus an attic and feature wooden mullioned and transomed windows throughout.
On the garden front of the south wing, there is a wide six-panelled central door with a moulded wood surround and a heavy flat 20th-century stone hood supported by stone corbels. This side also has a three-window range and three attic dormers, with the central dormer having a segmental pediment and the others having triangular pediments.
The rear of the house includes a pointed window for the staircase, as well as two- and three-light casements and wooden mullioned and transomed windows. The north wing has a four-window range with a central recessed six-panelled door that has two glass lights, a moulded wood surround, and a flat hood.
Inside, the hall is flanked by the wings, and there is a cellar in the left wing accessed by a stone spiral stair. The hall features chamfered beams and a bressumer. The right wing has thick walls, with panelling and shutters in the parlour and a cellar in the rear room. There is a 20th-century range at the rear of the hall and an 18th-century staircase.
