Description
Austin’s Farmhouse comprises two distinct builds: a 17th-century section to the left and an 18th-century section to the right. The 17th-century portion has coursed ironstone rubble walls and a thatched roof, with a two-unit plan, including an outshut at the left end. It is a single storey with an attic. The ground floor features two 3-light stone mullioned windows with hood moulds and label stops. A swept dormer to the attic contains a 2-light casement. The rear of this section has a plank door set within a plain wooden surround. The right-hand, 18th-century section is constructed of coursed regular rubble with a Welsh slate roof and stone coping incorporating kneelers. It has two brick end stacks. This part of the farmhouse is arranged with a two-unit plan, extending over two storeys and featuring a three-window range. A central recessed entrance is flanked by two wooden mullioned and transomed windows, with three windows on the first floor. Inside the 17th-century section is a plank door leading to a wooden winder stair, and stop-chamfered beams are visible.
