Description

Wise's Cottages is a row of three cottages dating from the 17th century. They are constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and topped with a thatched roof. The cottages feature four brick stacks located at the ends and along the ridge, with ironstone quoins. The two end cottages are single-unit homes, while the central cottage is a two-unit design. The buildings are single storey plus attic, with two- and three-light casement windows under wooden lintels on the ground floor. The middle cottage has a three-light stone mullioned window that includes a hood mould and label stops. The attic features swept dormers with two-light casements. The rear elevation has three entrances with wooden lintels and additional swept dormers with two-light casements. Inside, the cottages have chamfered beams, bressumers over the fireplaces, and plank doors.
