Description
The Old Smithy is a house located on Main Street in Tadmarton, likely dating from the 17th century. It is constructed of coursed random rubble and features a thatched roof, with three stone stacks positioned at the ends and along the ridge. The building has a three-unit plan and is single storey plus attic, with a two-window range. The elevation facing the road includes two entrances, each with plank doors set in wooden framed surrounds. There is a continuous lintel above the door and window on the right side. On the ground floor, there are two casement windows at either end, both featuring wooden lintels. The attic storey has two eyebrow dormers. Inside, there is a chamfered beam in the main room, although the floor level has been lowered and the fireplace has been rebuilt.
