Description
This early 18th century building consists of three dwellings, known as Strawtop Cottage. It is constructed of coursed squared marlstone with larger stone quoins. The front entrance is for number 2; entrances to numbers 1 and 3 were likely originally located to the side or rear. The windows indicate the separate units, with cross-windows on the ground floor and casements at the first floor level, all set beneath straight wooden lintels. The gable end of number 1 is visible, while the end of the others is obscured by a modern house. Brick chimney stacks rise from the gables, and a further stack is located slightly left of centre along the ridge of the middle cottage. The building has a steep-pitched thatched roof. The interiors have not been inspected. It is considered a good example of local vernacular architecture.
