Description

Four houses, now three dwellings, were built in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, in two phases of construction. They are built of coursed and squared stone, with a slate roof. Numbers 11 and 12 form a cohesive pair, likely built as cottages in the 18th century. The houses have a double-pile plan. The exterior features doorways with flat wedge lintels, and 20-pane sash windows in chamfered surrounds on the inner side. First-floor windows are 2-light casements, renewed within original openings. Axial stack present. Number 14 incorporates the former number 13; the left-hand unit shares the same construction as numbers 11 and 12, with a canted bay window to the ground floor, a 2-light window beneath a gabled dormer with a glazed apex to the first floor, and a doorway to the right. A straight joint is visible to the right of this unit, marking the original extent of the structure. The former number 14 features a 4-light mullioned window to the left and a 2-light window inserted into a former doorway against the gable wall. The gable wall appears to have been rebuilt and is asymmetrical, with a short slope to the rear and a stack forward of the ridge line. Numbers 11 and 12 have end wall stacks. Low plinth walls with cast-iron railings define a small yard in front of number 14. The interior was not inspected.
