Description
No. 15 Firwood Fold is a house that likely dates back to the 16th century but was extensively remodeled in the 19th century. The building is primarily constructed from roughly coursed and squared stone, with brick extensions, and features at least one cruck truss visible in the gable wall. It has a heavy slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has a three-window range, which reflects the original two-unit plan, later extended to the west by an additional single unit. The doorway is located towards the center of the original building, and all the windows have been renewed. There are stacks on the end walls of the original structure. The interior details are not included in the description. This house is believed to be the oldest inhabited house in Bolton, although the source of this tradition is not known.
