Description

A pair of houses located in Bolton, largely dating from the 18th century but incorporating elements of an earlier building. No.9 is constructed of roughly coursed and squared stone, while No.8 is brick. The front elevation of No.8 prominently displays two exposed cruck blades raised on stone plinths, positioned on either side of the entrance. The roof is slate covered with timber-clad verges.

The houses are two storeys high, each comprising a single unit arranged in a double-pile plan with the entrance on the right-hand side. No.9 has a three-light window with re-cut mullions on the ground floor and a similar window above. No.8 features a three-light casement window on the ground floor and two-light horizontally sliding sash windows on the first floor, both with small panes of iron. The houses have end walls and axial stacks. The interior has not been inspected.
