Description

Poplars Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid 17th century, with alterations from the 18th century and further changes in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed lias stone and features a plain tile roof from the 19th century. The building has a three-unit lobby-entry plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic.

The front has a three-window range of three-light stone mullion windows on the ground floor, and similar two-light windows on the first floor, all adorned with hood moulds and square label stops. To the left of the centre, there is a 20th-century door that has a similar head, likely reset from the 19th century. An 18th-century outbuilding to the right has a two-window range of 20th-century windows and now forms part of the house, with a 20th-century door at the far right. The left gable features stone mullion windows on both floors, and the rear elevation also has some stone mullion windows.

Inside, the room to the right of the entrance includes an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer and a similar stop-chamfered spine beam. The room to the left of the entrance shows evidence of a smaller open fireplace, which is now blocked. There are indications of mid to late 19th-century remodelling internally, possibly involving the widening of two rooms in the centre and to the right.
