Description

The Chestnuts is a late 17th-century farmhouse, later altered in the 19th and 20th centuries, located on the south side of Mollington Main Street. The building is constructed of squared coursed lias stone with a 20th-century concrete tile roof. Originally it had a three-unit plan. The two-storey front elevation has a three-window range of stone mullion windows, each with three lights and hood moulds. The central entrance features a reset 19th-century six-panel door within a similar stone surround. The roof structure dates to the 19th century, and there are 19th-century brick stacks at the ridge and end of the building. The interior was not inspected but likely retains open fireplaces, which are now blocked.
