Description

The Jetty is a house, now divided into four dwellings, dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It's located on the south side of Main Street, Mollington. The building is constructed of squared coursed lias stone and has a thatched roof. It likely began as a four-unit plan and now presents an irregular six-window front. The windows are a mix of 19th and 20th-century casements with wooden lintels; two first-floor windows on the right have older leaded casements. A 20th-century door is also set under a wooden lintel. Six brick stacks are visible at the ridge and ends of the building. A single-storey extension to the left also has a thatched roof. The right gable has been rendered. The rear elevation is similar, with 19th and 20th-century doors under wooden lintels and a 20th-century porch on the right. Inside Nos. 7/8 and 9/10, there are open fireplaces with bressumers. A room to the right of No. 9/10 likely formed the original house’s hall, with a room in No. 7/8 adjacent to it. The interiors retain stopped-chamfered spine beams and rafters, chamfered wall beams, and some original roof structure is visible in No. 9/10. The building was probably subdivided into farmworkers' houses in the 18th or 19th century.
