Description
Church Cottage is a cottage from the 18th century that incorporates earlier features. It is built of coursed squared marlstone with wooden lintels and has a Stonesfield-slate roof with a brick end stack. The cottage has a single-unit plan and stands two storeys high. The front has two windows, with the doorway located at the extreme right. There is a renewed three-light casement window at the ground floor and two-light windows from the 18th or early 19th century at the first floor. Attached to the front right corner is a rubble projection that likely serves as a 17th-century gatepier, featuring a three-course ashlar coping above a moulded string. The steep-pitched roof has a stack on the left side. The interior has not been inspected. The cottage is included for its group value.
