Description

The Post Office in Deddington is a shop and dwelling that likely dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed squared marlstone and features large ashlar quoins, topped with a Welsh-slate roof. The building has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall, raised to three storeys.

The front facade has two windows and rises from a moulded plinth, which is accented by two limestone bands and a narrow moulded string that was originally a cornice, though this is now interrupted by later windows. The first floor has renewed 12-pane sash windows with 19th-century ashlar flat arches, while the second floor features casements set in later walling. The shop front is from the 20th century. A central limestone plaque on the facade is now defaced. The roof is steep-pitched, and the rear of the building has a gabled stair projection. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
