Description
No. 27 Causeway is a shop and dwelling that possibly dates back to the early 18th century but was re-fronted in the mid to late 19th century. The building is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar and some brick dressings, topped with a Welsh-slate roof and rendered stacks. It has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall. The front features two windows, a parapet, a large moulded cornice, and a band at the second-floor level, all with ashlar dressings and flat arches that have projecting keyblocks. The upper windows are fitted with 4-pane sash windows. On the left side, there is a 20th-century shop front that leads to a recessed four-panel entrance. The rear of the building has renewed cross windows with wooden lintels and brick jambs, and it features a hipped roof. The interior has not been inspected. This building is included for its group value.
