Description
This is a row of four almshouses built in 1818, constructed from marlstone ashlar with a Welsh-slate roof and brick stacks. The almshouses are designed in the Gothick style and consist of single-unit plans over two storeys. The symmetrical front features a storey band and a central recessed passage entry, flanked by pairs of cottages with adjoining doors. Each cottage has a lattice-glazed two-light casement window on both floors. All openings are framed with chamfered pointed-arched stone surrounds, and the windows display Y tracery that is also reflected in the door panels. The roof has projecting eaves, with gable stacks and a central double stack that have plinths and octagonal shafts topped with projecting caps. The interiors have not been inspected.
