Description

This is a house, dating from the mid-17th century and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed squared marlstone with some wooden lintels, limestone ashlar dressings, and has a concrete plain-tile roof with brick stacks. The house originally comprised three units, including a service bay and a garage bay, and has since been sub-divided. It is two storeys high, with a further storey plus attic. The left and middle bays of the main range (number 7) have 3-light 18th-century casement windows at the first floor level. The ground floor retains restored 4- and 3-light stone-mullioned windows with labels. A doorway with a 6-panel door, located to the right of bay 2, is likely the original entrance. Bay 3 contains 20th-century windows, and a second doorway. A lower bay to the right has a 4-light stone-mullioned window with a label and a further mullioned window in the gable; this bay has been raised with a 20th-century dormer. To the left of the main range is another lower bay, now used as a garage. The roofs are steeply pitched, with stacks located to both gables and to the left of bay 3. The rear of number 8 includes a rectangular stair projection. The interior has not been inspected.
