Description
Groom's Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble and features a steeply pitched roof covered with 20th-century tiles. The building has brick stacks at both ends and along the ridge. The layout is a three-unit plan, and it stands two storeys tall with a three-window range. The approximately central entrance has a 20th-century door with a wooden lintel. On the ground floor, there are three 20th-century windows, each with wooden lintels, as well as a blocked fire window that has a stone-framed surround. The first floor contains three 20th-century windows with wooden lintels and another blocked window. To the right, there is a blocked entrance that has an inserted 20th-century window. Inside, there are plank doors and an inglenook fireplace with a renewed bressumer. The front elevation displays some burned stones. The cottage is included for its group value.
