Description

Fir Cottage is a small house, likely dating from the early 19th century, with a 20th-century extension. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with squared dressings, and has a Stonesfield-slate roof with rebuilt brick end stacks. The original plan was for two units, and the visible front has two windows on each floor. The windows are renewed, 2-light leaded casements, and there is an entrance on the extreme left. A square datestone is inscribed "TB/1813/1913", suggesting the earlier date of 1813 is when the house was originally built. A small lean-to extension is to the left, and a flat-roofed wing extends to the rear. The interior has not been inspected. The building forms a continuous range with Fir Lane Cottage and is included on the list due to its group value.
