Description
Jasmine Cottage is a cottage that likely dates back to the 17th century and was extended in the 20th century. It is built from limestone rubble, partly rendered, and features wooden lintels. The roof is thatched with a rubble-and-brick gable stack. The cottage has an L-shaped plan and consists of one storey plus an attic. The main range faces away from the road and has a small two-light casement window on each floor, one of which contains old leaded glass. The left gable wall has a stack built on a rubble base, which is now hidden by a small extension made of rubble and render under a hip roof. The rear wing, which extends from the right, includes two additional casement windows and a plank door, with a single-storey addition that reaches the road. Inside, there is a steep quarter-turn stair with winders next to the chimney breast and plank shutters. This cottage is noted for being an unusually early example of its type.
